On October 21, 2016, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement between Guanghua School of Stomatology, Sun Yat-sen University and College of Dentistry, University of Illinois at Chicago was held in the conference room at Hospital of Stomatology of Sun Yat-sen University. Prof. Clark Stanford, Dean of College of Dentistry, University of Illinois at Chicago; Prof. Cheng Bin, Dean of Guanghua School of Stomatology; Prof. Lin Zhengmei, Deputy Dean of Guanghua School of Stomatology; as well as teacher and student representatives attended the ceremony.

The signing ceremony was moderated by Prof. Lin Zhengmei. Prof. Cheng Bin delivered a welcome speech. He reviewed the friendship between the two schools in the past five years, and expressed the hope to deepen exchange and cooperation, and make breakthroughs in scientific research, faculty visit and student training.

Prof. Cheng Bin and Prof. Clark Stanford signed the memorandum of agreement under the witness of the participants.

After the signing ceremony, Prof. Clark Stanford delivered a lecture entitled “Evolution of dental implant therapy in complex patient care planning: combing the best of conventional approach in an interdisciplinary manner”.

Afterwards, Prof. Clark Stanford came to the Prosthodontics Department and gave clinical teaching demonstration to the doctors and nurses.

Founded in 1982, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is Chicago’s only public research university. UIC’s health sciences colleges emphasize clinical skills, research and community focus. The cooperation between SYSU’s Guanghua School of Stomatology and the UIC College of Dentistry began in 2011, and the project coordinator is Prof. Huang Hongzhang from the Oral & Maxillofacial Department at Guanghua School of Stomatology.
