The Guangdong Traditional Culture Promotion Association was established in Guangzhou on September 11, 2013. Professor Jiang Mingzhi of Sun Yat-sen University was elected the first chairman for his long-time focus on the protection of intangible cultural heritage and the study of folklore. The relevant person in charge of the Association said that based on the geographical, historical and cultural resources in Guangdong, the Association will contact organizations and individuals at home and abroad to inherit and develop the essence of traditional culture.

"Unlike the research institutes which only have experts and scholars, our aim of establishing the Guangdong Traditional Culture Promotion Association is to bring together forces from government, enterprises, experts and different sectors of the society to promote traditional culture." Jiang Mingzhi thought that the key to traditional culture is popularization, inheritance and promotion, which will make the concept of traditional culture walk into our real life and transform into our behavior, thus bringing new vitality to traditional culture.
