May 18th, business fair co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana, was held in the Huaishi Hall of south campus of SYSU. The Alumni Association had invited some of alumni to participate in the meeting to explore career opportunities. The meeting was hosted by Xu Dongle, the Secretary-General of the Alumni Association, and Xu Yao, Deputy Director of the department of the International Cooperation and Exchange, Xu Zaocheng, American-side president of the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, Zhang Zhe, Chinese-side president of the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis and others were present at the meeting.

At the meeting, Steve Akard, director of International Development of Governor Office of the State of Indiana, Courtney Poulos, Mayor of Indianapolis Office of International Economic Development Office, Rod Giffird, president of Indiana Joint Chamber of Commerce gave speeches respectively, “Indiana Accelerate Your Business”, "Promoting Innovation and Investment in Indianapolis, Indiana” and "Opportunity Indianapolis”, answering to issues such as business opportunities on the investment, investment environment, and the local law and order. This exchange meeting had built direct and effective communication bridge for those alumni entrepreneurs who have intentions of expanding their business overseas, exploring Guangdong and Indiana economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

In the afternoon, the Alumni Association arranged Dr. Xu Zaocheng from the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis to visit the Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain and Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Shen Nong Chinese Medicine Museum Cottage. Li Chuyuan, National model worker, vice president of alumni federation of SYSU, Deputy Managing Director of the Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group, and general manager of Hutchison Whampoa Guangzhou Baiyunshan Chinese Medicine Campany Limited, had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the delegate from the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, to form a strategic alliance cultural transmission of Chinese medicine. The two sides agreed to a build Sino-US cultural communication platform, cooperation mechanisms for the exchange of personnel in learning, and enhanced communications.
