First, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying listened to a report by President Luo Jun on SYSU’s role in developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area. Located in the Pearl River Delta region, with five campuses in the three cities of Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen, SYSU is serving the Belt and Road Initiative and the Powerful Maritime Nation strategy, serving Guangdong’s innovation driven development strategy and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area development. SYSU has made positive contributions in the “three outputs”: high-level innovative talents; technologies with original intellectual property rights; and new-form research and development institutes.

Afterwards, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying visited the Tianhe-2 Supercomputer at NSCC-GZ, and listened to a report made by Prof. Lu Yutong, Director of NSCC-GZ, which focused on the collaboration between NSCC-GZ and relevant institutions in Hong Kong.

Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying praised SYSU for its efforts and contributions to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area. He expressed hope that Hong Kong universities and institutions will strengthen cooperation and exchange with SYSU, and jointly write a new chapter in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area.
