On the morning of June 11, the signing ceremony for “Shaoguan (SYSU) Research and Development Center for Modern Agriculture”, which is co-constructed by Sun Yat-sen University and Shao Guan city, took place in Shaoguan. Xu Anlong, vice president of SYSU, and Zheng Zhentao, mayor of Shao Guan, on behalf of SYSU and Shaoguan city respectively, signed the contract. Gu Xueliang, associate secretary general of the provincial government, Xie Yuexin, head of the provincial department of agriculture, and Xu Jianhua, secretary of the municipal party committee of Shaoguan, etc. attended the signing ceremony.

"Shaoguan (SYSU) Research and Development Center for Modern Agriculture” co-constructed by the university and the city constitutes an important part of the work of promoting the comprehensive cooperation between SYSU and Shaoguan city. According to the contract, the two sides, relying on the technology, talents advantages of SYSU and the geographic advantages of Shaoguan city, will actively conduct research and demonstration of new technology, new process and new products for modern agriculture. It is expected that the center will be built into an important demonstration base for high-tech agriculture in Guangdong and the display platform for ecological agriculture, through a 3 to 5 years’ of construction.
