Over 400 people from nine organizations visited the museum this summer, including students of Tianfu Road Primary School in Tianhe, Guangzhou and Experimental Primary School in Daliang, Shunde; faculty members and their children from Zhongshan School of Medicine and SYSU; children of SYSU alumni overseas; college students from Guangdong Vocational School of Technology and Trade; as well as participants of the Sixth Joint Summer Camp of Medical Students from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the Second Summer Camp of Medical Students from Guangdong and Taiwan, and the Guanghua School of Stomatology Summer Camp. In addition to the group visitors above, some 126 citizens also toured the museum as individual viewers.

Opening medical specimens to the public helps in popularizing basic medical knowledge and improving the overall understanding of health among the visitors. More importantly, it promotes a collegiate culture that SYSU has hoped to establish in the community with medical responsibilities and obligations embodied in the specimens, thus enhancing the social influence and public image of SYSU.
