An inspection panel headed by Academician Yang Xiongli, had conducted an on-site inspection to the national key laboratory of Ophthalmology of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, and attended a report given by Professor Ge Jian, head of the laboratory regarding the research achievements, staff and operation management throughout the construction stage of the laboratory. After a thorough discussion, the members of the panel decided that the key laboratory of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center had successfully accomplished the construction task, and achieved the expected goal of the construction, and therefore passed the inspection. The panel also brought up new expectations and demands from the national key laboratory of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, urging the laboratory to further solidify its objectives in sciences, highlight key points and strive for more advanced, original achievements; to further enhance the strength of its openness.. Deputy-president Xu Anlong maintained also that the suggestions from leaders and experts should be conscientiously implemented and that the university will continually provide key supports to the construction of the laboratory with manpower, material and financial resources.
